PLANNING YOUR JOURNEY TO CLOS MIRABEL

There are hundreds of reasons why Clos Mirabel is the perfect holiday and special event destination for the whole family.
For those seeking adventure there’s skiing, hiking, pony trekking, kayaking, mountain biking, fishing, golfing, rock climbing and much, much more.
For the rest of us there’s the chance to kick back, relax and unwind in fifteen acres of private parkland overlooking the beautiful rolling hills and vineyards of
Jurançon and the entire chain of the Pyrénées Atlantiques.

THE BURNING QUESTION IS: How to get there?
From the UK you have a number of options:
􏰀 Flights to Lourdes, Biarritz, Bordeaux and Toulouse
􏰀 Train from London to Pau
􏰀 Ferry crossing to Calais
􏰀 Ferry to Bilboa, Spain
For links to all the options go to the where to find us page on the Clos Mirabel website.

THE QUICKEST ROUTE: Flights from London Stansted to Lourdes
Ryanair is the only airline that flies to Lourdes, but it is by far the most direct and time effective way to get to Clos Mirabel – just two hours from London Stansted to Lourdes followed by a half hour drive to Clos Mirabel. Rental cars can be booked online in advance.

THE MOST CONVENIENT ROUTE: Flights from the UK to Toulouse
Most of the UK’s major airports (including Manchester, Stansted, Edinburgh and Birmingham) offer short direct flights to Toulouse, which is then only a 2 hour drive from Clos Mirabel. This is a popular option for many of our UK visitors as the airfares tend to be cheaper and the drive from Toulouse to Clos Mirabel is straightforward and scenic.

THE MOST RELAXING ROUTE: Train from London St Pancras to Pau
The Eurostar from London St Pancras to Pau (with one change in Paris) is a great option if you don’t like travelling in confined spaces. With more leg room and plenty of opportunity to walk around and stretch your legs, the high speed rail service is definitely one of the more comfortable and leisurely ways to get to Clos Mirabel. Pau is a 12 minute cab or car ride from Pau and car hire is available from Pau Train Station.

THE MOST ADVENTUROUS AND EXCITING ROUTE: Ferry to Calais
After taking a short ferry across the Channel to Calais you can either bomb down to Clos Mirabel in approximately 10 or 11 hours or you could take a more leisurely family-friendly drive taking in a little more of France along the way. You can plan your journey on one of these sites RAC or simply Google ‘best routes through France’ for plenty of interesting detours. Most people split this drive over one or two days and there are plenty of B&Bs to choose from en route. Our top recommendation is a stopover at Château d’Omiécourt Located 1hr 40 mins from Calais, 1 hour from Paris and 8.30 hrs from Clos Mirabel Manor.

THE MOST LUXURIOUS ROUTE: Ferry from Portsmouth to Bilboa
A pricey alternative but perfect for those who enjoy cruises. Not only will you get your holiday off to a stylish, luxurious and relaxing start, but you will have the opportunity to spot whales, dolphins and porpoises along the way.
Following your one or two night cruise from Portsmouth to Bilbao, you have three options for your onward journey to Clos Mirabel.

1) 2.5 hours drive by car (by far the quickest way)
2) 5.5 hour bus journey with one change in San Sebastian
3) 7.5 hour train journey with a minimum of three changes

The Basque city of San Sebastian is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and makes for a truly memorable daytrip so make sure you factor this into your travels. Meander through the winding streets of the city’s Old Quarter; indulge in some delicious Spanish delicacies; and sink your toes into the fine white sands of Concha Beach before continuing your journey.
